Let me tell you about this page.
The first picture on the wall is of the Village Hall at the Lea. Home of the Lea Short Mat Bowling Club.
Next is a view inside the building, but it really looks a lot bigger on the photo than it is!
Now here’s a shot of a game being played between the Lea Team and Weston-under-Penyard our near neighbours. Making sure of the measure!

Next picture is of the crew who won Lea club four's - more about this when you get to the internal competitions page.
Number five is of Andy and Don, we believe the first two people ever to 'Bowl a Mile'for charity.
Now we go back in time, this picture shows the measuring in the first game ever played at Lea Village Hall, showing Norman Davies the founder of Lea S.M.B.C. and the inspiration behind the establishment of the Herefordshire County S.M.B.A.
Next that action most people think is carried out by a band of mystical beings, rolling up the mat after play.
The final photo is one taken in 1991 with Dick Cole standing in the background, as his wife Mary delivers her wood . At that time we had only one mat, and few ideas as to how to play the game!
We would like you to know how to find us, so the first map tells you we are about five miles from Ross on Wye, on the A40 to Gloucester.
The second is how to find the Village Hall at Lea.
I hope you like our welcoming page and will now adventure through the rest of the site using the buttons on the left of your screen.
On the next page we introduce you to the Lea Short Mat Bowling Club, this is followed by information about our internal competitions
The next page commences Chapters from ‘Bowling Through the Ages’, which is a history of the development of the sport of bowling.
Above every thing else I hope you will visit our Guest Book page and leave us a message. Especially any hints as to how we can improve this site to make it a more effective tool for Short Mat Bowlers. |
