Our first picture on this wall is the Village Hall at Lea, Built in 1990 it is the home of the Lea Short Mat Bowling Club formed in 1991

Number two shows an inside view of the playing area, and illustrates the quality of the building. It has a good floor for bowling, and is warm in the cold weather.
Regular practice sessions are held on Tuesday evenings and Thursday afternoons |

The Lea Club have a team in the senior league of the Hereford SMBA. Last year they had their best year to date finishing Third behind Woolhope and Ross Here we see them in action against Fownhope 'A'.

Within the club there is an annual series of Competitions for members that challenges both experienced and novice players. This includes Trophies competed for in memory of past players. The Bill Smith and the Bill Maxfield Cups.
The winnerand runner-up in the Bill Smith Competition are shown here. Ron Perkin runner up, but a worthy winner Joan James.

One of the pleasures in Short Mat Bowling is raising funds for Local and National Charities. Here we have a shot of the Hardwick Competion which is devoted to a different Charity each year. June Smith, one of the Lea team is on the mat. A great favourite is the Macmillan Trophy that has brought in thousands of pounds for the Macmillan Nurses. ( Lea and Fwnhope were founder clubs of this competition)

Here is the time we look forward to :- sitting down for a 'cuppa' with feuding friends, in this case the folk from Bushley Gloucestershire. This event has a long history as THE annual game for both Lea and Bushley. Over the years honours are about even.

Lea SMBC is one of the oldest Clubs in the county and our picture here is of Norman Davies measuring for the first ever shot. He was instrumental in the founding of the Club, His vision and drive was the force behind the formation of, the Countu Associations of both Gloucestershire and Herfordshire.

The only member that can remember those days, being the only founding member left. Here he is with his Long Service Certificate presented to him in appreciation of his work for the Club.
